🪴 Project: The Paper Garden

Genre: Historical Fiction / Romance
Brief & Concept:
Set in Victorian England, The Paper Garden tells the story of Eleanor, a reclusive botanist who secretly creates intricate paper flowers to preserve the memory of her late husband. Her world changes when a young journalist uncovers her work and past. Themes of grief, healing, and the fragility of beauty run through the novel.

Design Strategy:
To capture the somber mood of Victorian England, I used a monochrome palette and raw textures inspired by old botanical sketches. The dense floral composition creates a quiet sanctuary, reflecting the character isolation and healing. The stark black and white tones capture the bittersweet reality of preserving a memory that cannot bloom again.

⛰️ Project: My Altay

Genre: Literary Non-fiction / Essays
Brief & Concept:
This collection of essays offers a poetic and vivid look at life in the Altay region of Xinjiang. The author explores the relationship between the nomadic Kazakh people and the wilderness, capturing the quiet strength of the landscape and the simple beauty of everyday life in one of the most remote corners of the world.

Design Strategy:
My design was inspired by the vast and ethereal atmosphere of the Xinjiang landscape described in the book. I used crayon textures to balance a sense of raw energy with delicate detail, specifically depicting the lush pastures during the transition between spring and summer.
The choice of simple and legible typography allows the artwork to breathe, while the strategic use of white space reflects the immense scale and peaceful solitude found within the stories.

🔥 Project: The Steadfast Tin Soldier

Genre: Children's Classic / Picture Book
Book Summary:
This classic fairy tale tells the story of a brave tin soldier who was born with only one leg. Despite his physical limitation, he remains perfectly upright and falls in love with a beautiful paper ballerina. His journey takes him through a series of dangerous adventures, from being swept down a rainy gutter to ending up inside a fish. Throughout these trials, the soldier never wavers in his courage or his devotion to the ballerina, leading to a bittersweet and poetic conclusion about love and resilience.

Design Strategy:
My design focuses on the themes of courage and devotion during the story’s climactic final moment. Instead of a literal depiction of the fireplace or the ballerina jumping, I chose to use symbolic imagery to capture the emotional weight of their sacrifice.
I also included the detail of the melting tin forming a single tear to represent the bittersweet nature of their love. To maintain a sense of tragedy and raw emotion, I used a restricted color palette inspired by glowing embers and charcoal, avoiding complex colors to keep the focus on the powerful silhouettes and the movement of the smoke.

🌳 Project: Whispers of the Forgotten Woods

Genre: Literary Fiction / Magical Realism
Brief & Concept:
Whispers of the Forgotten Woods is a literary fiction novel with elements of magical realism. It follows the journey of Elara, a young woman who returns to her childhood village after decades away. The village is surrounded by an ancient, enchanted forest that seems to have a life of its own, and Elara begins uncovering hidden memories and long-buried secrets. As the lines between past and present blur, the story delves into themes of memory, loss, and the cyclical nature of time. The atmosphere is dreamlike and melancholic, with moments of quiet magic.

Design Strategy:
This project explores the themes of cyclical time and the fluidity of memory. I used a circular composition to represent the repeating nature of time and placed the forest at the heart of the narrative to anchor the visual.
To evoke the feeling of boundaries blurring between the past and the present, I designed a unique handwritten font that winds through the tangled branches of the trees. This approach creates an immersive and slightly eerie fantasy atmosphere where the title and the environment become one inseparable mystery.
